High Yield Credit Sales/Trading in Canada
What does the high yield credit market look like in Canada? Where can I get some resources on this?
Does anyone have experience working on a HY desk at a big 5? How different is the work compared to the US?
For reference, I'm an incoming S&T summer analyst at one of the big 5 banks. Any advice on how to navigate a Bay st. trading floor would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Intern in S&T - FI, sorry about the lack of response. Maybe one of these topics will help:

I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Can you even directly get into HY Credit S&T in Toronto? I thought you just do Credit, and you'll get some exposure to it?
I'm pretty sure some of the big 5 have desks (mine does for sure), and I have a (slim) chance of landing on one. Just wanted to get some colour on the HY situation in Toronto. Pretty sure IG credit is another desk.
It seems that I was mistaken, and as the other posters have also pointed out the desk is just credit like you said. Thanks!
I don't think there is much of a dedicated HY market in CAD. I would guess those bonds are traded off IG desks
Most AM's/HF's will just use U.S brokers for HY issuance. The HY market in Canada is dead
Fairly sure that the credit desks cover both IG & HY in Toronto ... don't think the CAD HY market is big enough to have a designated desk for it
For my bank HY is usually under the credit desk covered by ~2 analysts
