Interview Feed Back - Credit Union Sales and Trading Associate

Had a interview with a credit union in securitization business for a associate role.

HR: 15 Minutes was told they'll get back to me to schedule interview with MD Treasury

Round 2 was with MD Treasury (Allocated time was 30min) ending up lasting exactly 30 minutes and he mentioned the MBS Director will be next.

Round 3: Allocated time 1 hour with MBS director. We ended up speaking for about hour and a half. In the end he mentioned how they have a top 3 and I'm definitely in the top 3. They may conduct a 4th interview with the CIO and associate or they may not. If not it'll boil down to strategic fit with the team. He also mentioned the earliest they'll get back to me is by next friday (May 27)

At this point is it just luck or have they decided already?

Well they're going to discuss it between the team. Everyone has their favorite probably and from there it's just a matter of picking the person people want to work with the most. Imagine that there's a rank of 1-3 for each candidate from each team member. The person with the highest rank on average gets the offer. So you might not be everyone's number one, but if you're the majority's number one choice they'll go with you. Make sense?

I followed up and he mentioned there has been a delay right now due to work.

Additionally, in the email the MD mentioned how there is no clear best candidate and they are debating between 2-3 excellent candidates including me and they are aiming to make a decision for next steps by friday.

Is their a way I can differentiate myself? I didn't respond to the email.

That sounds a little odd.. but mostly politically correct. Think about it - if the 2-3 candidates are truly excellent and great fit how do you pick one? Pick a name out of a hat? They're going to go with the person they like most. Which sucks, because that's not really in your control if it is true. Just wait it out for now. I would just tell them thanks for letting them know the timeline and let them know you're still interested (which you did already).
