I have a FT offer from two different companies; Company A - which I have signed and accepted, and Company B, which only recently gave me an offer and have only given me a verbal offer. Company B is my preferred choice and I plan on reneging on an offer with Company A.
I have a little over 2 weeks before I’m supposed to start at Company A, but have been waiting on letting them know about reneging on the offer until I get a written contract from Company B. However, it is now getting very late and I feel I need to let Company A know that I don’t plan on working there.
What advice do you have on how to renege on a company this last minute? How pissed off will Company A be? Should I wait until I have a written offer from Company B before I say anything to Company A?
How pissed off? Bruh, very. How large is the company? How many others are supposed to be starting work with you?
Relatively large, just over 30 graduates. What is the best decision to make?
Make sure you sign contract B before doing anything. Why the delay in B giving you the contract?
Don't renege until you signed your offer from Company B.

So what? At-will employment. Leave whenever you want.
You don't owe any company anything. Congratulations on the offer btw. You don't have to show up on the first day. I'm at a MF and 3 A1s didn't show up on their first day. These things happen. Do what's best for you and best of luck with getting that offer from company B

Just tell those fuckers your mom died and you need to go home to support your family or something if you don’t want the political fall out from reneging.
Don't feel bad about reneging at whatever point you have to even if it is first day of work. Just make sure to be courteous and explain that you are giving the late notice at the earliest time possible due to evolution of circumstances. These things happen all the time. They won't care as much as you think. It is called employment at will.
It's uncomfortable to do these kinds of things, but you will be fine once you do if it is the right thing for you.
Whatever you do, wait until you have signed a written offer for B and it’s been processed. Until then your “verbal offer” is meaningless and carries no weight. HR still can and sometimes will ghost you due to a variety of reasons. Would be extremely silly to renege on A, and then get nothing from B, leaving you jobless
