S&T Global Mobility
Hi,
I am a recent graduate who has been working for a year. I always want to do Sales and Trading. I had internship in Sales and Trading but for some reason I was not able to break in with a full time offer immediately. Now I have a very good opportunity to be back on the trading floor. I want to know about the global mobility of S&T especially trading. moving from Wall Street to London and Asia. Also the product is securitized product so I guess it is hard because it is well established in the US but Europe is different and Asia pretty much doesn't have it.
Can anyone share the insights? Thanks in advance!
This will be product- and desk- specific, but in my experience, if you let your superiors know you have an axe to work out of somewhere else, they will facilitate it if you're good. Often times, this means you'll be in a position to build a business or take over a role from someone who left.
Some BBs silo their US, EMEA, and Asia desks. In that case, I think transferring will be difficult, but if you have a global team it should be easier. You will still probably need to be in the US for at least a few years to demonstrate that you're good unless there is a sorely needed opening that pops up.
