check out jpmorgan's fantasy futures. It isn't that realistic (prices change once or twice daily) but it is fun, and they have some nice prizes. They fly a group of winners to their office in NYC, you get to network with a lot of traders and MDs, and I heard that you get to do another (more realistic) trading simulation among the winners.

CNBC had a trading simulation not too long ago. A couple of brokerage sites and newspapers have one two.

Its more than just whether you have the ability to trade, its the fit of the trading floor environment. Read Liars Poker and imagine yourself as a big swinging dick. Is that for you? Do you like math and numbers. Do you love multitasking and having 9 different monitors with information? Its a glamorous life, but it isn't for everybody.

So few things. 1) Who wouldnt want to be at the top of their profession? I mean when you say "is that for you" obviously ppl would be interested. 2) I know guys with 8 screens. and if you count the TV then you're at 9. 3) Multitasking describes a lot of things.

How about this. Can you hide your emotions? Do you take things personally? How do you feel about getting absolutely shat on, with thousands or possibly millions of dollars hanging on your ability to make the right decision in the next seconds or minutes? How do you feel about dealing with a client base that wants to pick you off, and a sales force that is often willing to help them?

thanks titan, but I wasn't offended. My point was that eric was pointing out mostly good things about the job. who wouldn't want to be a part of something, fun, interesting, and well paid? to counterbalance you've got to look at the drawbacks
