Valuating a Energy Trading Firm? College Student Interested in FIG

I might be the first "Prospect" to say this on the platform, but I'm interested in pursuing FIG banking out of college.  One thing I'm having trouble understanding is how would you valuate an Commodity trading company, would it be valued as a fig company or valued as an energy company? I was told by my mentor, in the example of an electric trading company, you could use a simple EV/EBITDA multiple but I was also told by another person that you would use market cap based ratios.
