Best options for rising sophomore to get into VC?
Hey guys,
I'm a rising sophomore at a target school. I'm thinking about double majoring in Material Sciences and Economics because I'm interested in the business perspective of renewable energy/agriculture. However, I'm uncertain of how to best position myself so I can eventually get a career in VC/ PE.
For my summer after sophomore year, would research on renewable fuels look better or should I aim to get an internship in consulting/ibanking/other sectors?
It seems like some people start in ibanking before transitioning to VC/PE should is an ibanking internship what I should be aiming for after junior year?

Didn't understood where is this "there" ?? Trading, VC or PE? Agreed with "Avon Barksdale" use search and spend some time researching in order to distinguish one from another. When you be able to do that, you'll know how to get in either of those places and what major will best suit that purpose.

I'm usually not a douche but this is so poorly organized... Go back, re-write the primary questions you're thinking and maybe you'll get some helpful responses. All I got from this was you're a SO at a target with no idea what they want in life....

Yeah, I realize that Finance>Econ but due to my horrible GPA as of the end of freshman year I can't achieve the >3.8GPA required to transfer into the B-school and take Finance. Economics is my second best option but I'm supplementing it with some Finance courses(which I'll take as electives).

Sorry for the poor organization of my questions/not having any background knowledge. Honestly, I really had no idea what I wanted to do until recently (have heard of ibanking/hedge fund and stuff from my b-school peers but until I read the WSO FAQs now I didn't know what they actually were) but I will stick to the majors I have picked. Any sort of advice--books to read to learn more about the industry, helpful classes to take, etc would be highly appreciated!
