From IB to Corp Dev to PE/VC - Please Advise

Hey everyone! I am interested in breaking into PE/VC and wonder if I can have some input from you all.

Currently, I am a corp dev associate with a large tech/professional services firm (e.g. Accenture, Cognizant, etc.). I had around three and half years of combined expereinces in BB energy corporate banking and MM levfin (TMT). The reason I didn't try to move directly into PE/VC from my last job was due to: i) I did not have much direct M&A transactional experiences other than the financing/debt aspect; and ii) my older shop while not small is no industry leader. Also, my current firm is pretty acquisitive and I will likely have a pretty good deal flow.

So my question is: have any of you moved from a corp dev position into a PE/VC shop? If so, I would really appreciate any kind of suggestions/feedback. In addition, I thought about doing MBA (M7) too. Will an MBA degree be helpful in this case?

Thanks a lot guys.

For what it's worth, I'm in Corp Dev now for a hyper acquisitive tech and I've been in the process with 3 different MM software PEs to lateral as an analyst over the last year. The opportunities to get the interviews are definitely out there from Corp Dev and it'll probably come down to fit. I'd imagine Corp Dev on top of your IB background, even if it's not pure M&A , would still look very favorable if you're targeting associate level roles.
