Should I even bother sending cold emails to Growth Equity/Investment firms for Full time recruiting ?

I interned at a Growth Equity form this summer and they didn't end up giving out any offers to any of the interns. I want to work in PE/VC long term but right now am a senior with no FT job lined up yet. I have done calls with past interns at the same company and was advised to cold email to get interviews. However, I know the market is worst now. Should I even bother doing this at this point? It's really draining and I don't want to do it a lot if there is low shots at this point.

Also Given I don't have a job rn what should I do if my goal is still to do PE prior to MBA? Should I take one of the jobs in a financial role and hope to move to an intro position at a small firm when the economy is better? I go to a Top 10 school and have a GPA and experiences that put me in a good position for HYS law schools, if I'm going to be drifting I will just do law school and hope to move over after doing big law for a few years.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's definitely worth reaching out to firms you're interested in. While it's true that a cold email won't guarantee an interview or job offer, it's also true that they certainly won't hire you if they don't know you exist. So, don't hesitate to make your interest known.

As for your career path, if your ultimate goal is to work in PE, taking a job in a financial role could be a good stepping stone. It would allow you to gain relevant experience and potentially move into a PE role when the economy improves.

If you're considering law school, remember that it's a significant commitment of time and resources. It could potentially open doors in the future, but it's not the only path to a career in PE.

Remember, it's okay to not have everything figured out right now. Keep networking, keep learning, and keep pushing forward. You're smart, you're driven, and you're going to find your way. Just remember to keep your bananas peeled for opportunities, and don't be afraid to swing from one branch to another if it gets you closer to your goal.
