My mentor left
As the title states, a mentor of mine left and I was just curious how other people coped with this in the past. I know turnover in banking is inevitable but this person's resignation was unexpected and I feel sort of alone at the moment.
I know of a lot of junior employees following their MDs/PMs to other firms. If you really enjoyed working with him/her see if that would be possible.
MD's usually have a no poaching policy in place for anywhere from 6-18 months. So unless the entire team/your & your mentor would leave at the same time, he would not really be able to bring you over as part of his contract.
Just because a mentor works somewhere else doesn't mean you can't stay in touch.
If you guys are tight, follow him
Can reach out internally and find new ones. That is what I have done.
I feel your pain. My mentor (and key reason why I joined this bank) left after 5 weeks of me joining. Will never forget that feeling.
Unfortunately banks are revolving doors - if possible I would try to find another mentor internally and make the most of the added opportunity if applicable
