Best way to understand the markets

I am an incoming SA in a WM at a BB (GS/MS/JPM) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to how to effectively follow the markets. I have been reading up on WSJ and other financial journals and was looking to see if there were other resources I can use to develop a more cohesive understanding.
