T2 Consulting or GS Risk Internship?

[Cross-posted from IB forum - this is my first time using WSO, so please let me know if this is allowed]

Hi all, I'm a current junior at a T25 university doing the internship search for next summer. I just received offers from a T2 consulting firm (think EYP or Deloitte S&O) as well as GS for the Risk Summer Analyst position in Salt Lake City. I know risk is considered more "middle/back office" and not as "good" as IB/anything "front office", but I was wondering how GS risk compares with T2 consulting and which offer I should take for next summer. I'm open to working in most industries and plan to shoot my shot at MBB/BBs and EBs/cybersecurity firms for full-time next year as well. The biggest factor for me is probably location; I'm looking to be in Philadelphia/LA/SF specifically, but other East Coast cities like NYC if need be for my full-time offer/any return offers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I haven't found a lot of information on either. Thank you!!

I know people from both who have gone on to MBBs for FT so I don't think either one of those is a deal-breaker in terms of recruiting. Yes, the GS role is more back office, but tbh I don't think consulting recruiters know/care about the intricacies the same way people on WSO do, they see GS and that's already good enough.

Honestly, the main thing I would think about here is which you would be comfortable with in the event FT recruiting doesn't work out. Would you rather be a consultant or work in risk? Granted I don't know what these risk roles are like at banks, but I personally would go with consulting, especially at a T2 which are still great firms and have some decent overlap with MBB in terms of work, responsibilities and exits.
