B-School recruiting attire

Can anyone comment on what's appropriate for business school recruiting attire? Especially for investment banking summer associate positions during your first year. From my impression thus far, you have to attend a lot of networking receptions and a lot of informational interviews... but rarely will you see the same bank or bank representatives two days in a row.

Would I be fine with the below?

  • 2 suits, one navy, one charcoal, from Brooks Brothers
  • 6-8 shirts - bespoke, mixture of solids, checks
  • 5-6 ties
  • Allen Edmonds Park Avenue black cap toe shoes
  • Perhaps I'll buy one more pair of brown dress shoes? is it necessary?

I would assume that an associate candidate should look more polished and presentable than an analyst one? Is the above mix of stuff good enough for summer associate recruiting and interviews?

You'll be fine. Always wear a suit, even when the flyer says business casual, b/c everyone else will be in a suit including the bankers (this was true at my school a top 5 program).

Shoes won't matter. It's suit & tie, you'll be good to go.

So 2 suits should be enough? And Brooks Brothers quality is good enough?
