If common sense was all people needed, you'd think more would figure out how to dress normally. This doesn't seem to be the case, though, so it's worth checking out a book or two.

The best one that I've seen is Dressing the Man: Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion. I have a copy and have read the whole thing, it's pretty comprehensive. Of course, being able to afford the right clothes is another problem, but at least after reading this you'll know what will make you look good. They even have practical stuff like different suggestions for face shapes and skin tones, which can be useful. Check it out:
