A nice polo shirt.
From what company? That's sick, what about the patagucci vests?
Polos are too preppy, I’m partial to HANDCUFFS and WHIPS and ANAL BEADS myself
Presumably embossed with company logos
polo shirts, pens, high end umbrella, tie
My favorite is the JP Morgan umbrella, (design wise, simple blue). How do you classify a high end umbrella?
Stainless steel mechanics with bearings, automatic both ways, luxury wood handle, cloth instead of polyester I have two of those, one of from Barclays and one from WeWork.
Polo shirt, gym bags, golf hat, water bottle.
vaseline from my MD
baseball caps are my favorite
a wooden puzzle box that you have to figure out how to open. It's actually pretty cool as an icebreaker on your coffee table, or to give to your kid to play with
Probably my Barclays umbrella. I see too many idiots wearing their sleeveless vest in the summer time when it's 90 degrees out and they're sweating their ass off in the subway. Stupidest thing I've ever saw. Majority of the traders never even wear a vest outside the office and leave it on their chair. Ever since then, I don't ever wear it because I'm not a poser. I'll stick with the umbrella.
Aren't all vests inherently sleeveless?
Not if you're a real balla and know where to shop.
Bear Stearns drawstring bag from Feb 2008.
Yeti mugs are probably my favorite and most useful that I've gotten. Second to that would be umbrellas or golf balls.
One thing we gave out that went over quite well was a multi tool with a flashlight - people loved that freaking thing.
Yeti mugs are amazing
Branded hand sanitizer
The most useful thing I've gotten is one of those small external batteries to charge your phone when you are on the go. It actually wasnt even my bank that gave it out, but it was one of the venders we use for data management I think or maybe it was Fitch. I cant recall but its super useful to keep in the gym bag.
yeah I have one of those and a universal charging cord from a bank and they’ve been super useful
Swell water bottle. every time I think my water isn't cold anymore, I drink from it and am pleasantly surprised.
Even when they're not company branded these are still a must have for me
the only crappy thing about them is that they don't fit in my company's water dispenser.
WSO now has enough information to out my firm
Global travel adapter with additional USB charge ports. Rugby football jersey from a game we watched.
Leather luggage tag and, as said above, a YETI
YETI is amazing
.
One time, I won company-branded whiskey stones, corkscrew, and koozie at an all-hands lottery. Definitely wasn't expecting that!
wow thats great, I won just a t-shirt and cap
Spittoons, ash trays, bottle openers, and corkscrews.
Who is passing out spittoons? That's hilarious
Sounds like Texas O&G to me lol
I have enough blender bottles for this lifetime
A bonus check with the company name on it
protein powder from my old PM
A pencil from Merrill Lynch (yes, I'm that old) which said: "Made from recycled money" They went bust a few month after that...
Shirts from my company (I wouldn't wear any one else's).
My favorite is the Yeti's. Give me all the Yetis!
Also, very functional are portable chargers (although I have at least 10 now) and the universal cords.
Mouse from Deloitte
>->Mouse
>->Deloitte
of course...
balls. We got these little foam stress balls. Great for throwing at my 1st year to get his attention ;D
You know those are the 'nads of the previous year's intern class right?
pata vest from Kensho
Under Armour duffle bag, swell water bottle, few pint glasses and coffee mugs
Tide To-Go Sticks.....grabbed 10 of 'em from Citi's informational event last year and haven't looked back
A big Ogio duffel bag Lululemon leather (i think?) bag
GS dildo. Talk about go fuck yourself.
The Enron ethics cube. No, not a joke. This shwag is drenched in so much irony that it has become a Wall Street collectible with a street value of $300.

Oakley sunglasses, battery charging packs, leather bound notebooks, and Yeti cups. All highly usable and don't end up in the trash like some other swag.
Doesn't Bloomberg Princeton, NJ give their analysts a nice grey sweatshirt with their logo near the nipple (left side or right side don't remember)?
Probably the umbrella, as others mentioned. Mine is long (not the short version for tote bags). Really smooth to the hand. Also had a golf umbrella for two, with a very clever mechanism. Other stuff is more general like bags, leather stuff, pens etc.
Fratagonia vests and nike golf hats. Also got a yeti furnace that is hype. Gotta love it when you get spoiled.
ER you get a decent amount of good swag from companies at analyst days. Under Armour pullovers, rain jackets, yetis, golf balls. One crappy small cap company that is desperate for people to show up gave out Ipads one year. (Couldn't take one per bank policy though)
A shirt and a hoodie
My boss loves wine, so he gets cases at a time from Europe and gives them out to team members. Doesn't last, but I absolutely love it.
In February, got a branded mini hand sanitizer from Raine Group. Appreciated real quickly
My last company gave us North Face backpacks. Pretty sweet for commuting. No yetis though. They were too cheap for those.
banker bags - ever flexed one every day on your way to the gym senior year after your SA stint?
espresso maker, swell bottle, quarter zip jacket, notebook
Espresso maker, damn. Nice one at least?
not super well-versed in the world of espresso but it was a nice set with the coffee grounds included, everything you need to get started, still haven’t used it but might one day
Poker set with a pretty dope company logo on it
A floor trader rubber duckie with the shape of our main building in the hand lmao
sorry if dumb question, but do all BB give out gear? and what is normally given? thanks!!
Over the years I've had some awesome wholesalers, and employers that were pretty generous with gifts. By price range under $50 Pictet gave me a muti usb fastcharger that I use daily and really enjoy. The last 10 years of my golf balls have been provided by JH, Ivy, Blackrock, MFS, American Funds, Franklin Templeton, etc. Advantus Capital gives really nice Nike Dri-fit baseball caps
$50-$100: I personally use the John Hancock Umbrella I got several years ago all the time, good quality. Blackrock and Ivy Funds have nice Nike golf polos/pullovers and cycling jerseys that I use often.
$100-250: Advantus gave me a Nike Golf Bag that is awesome. Mackenzie Investments provided my Oddessy 2 Ball putter.
$250-1000: Not the normal wholesaler swag, but Ivy funds provided me some awesome gifts while I was there. For my first municipal underwriting deal I got an engraved Mont Blanc fountain pen and mechanical pencil set. After our acquisition of Hostress all of our team members received a box of twinkies with a Yellow Face Tissot Quartz watch. But my favorite gift by far was following our venture into Formula 1 which we received engraved Tag Heuer Formula 1 watches with the Ivy & F1 logos on the face.
$+++: Again not swag technically, but certainly appreciated are fund company covered trips! These were by far my favorites, and are separated by if they passed the tax bill on to me... Not Taxed: 1. Weekend at Four Seasons Golf Resort Scottsdale, AZ with travel and all expenses courtesy of W&R/Ivy for leadership team appreciation 2. Week in Boston w/ John Hancock. "Due Diligence" in reality just a great week of drinking with a couple of buddies and our wholesaler. 3. Week in Quebec w/ Mackenzie. "Due Diligence" for the F1 venture at the Canadian GP. 4. Week in Austin w/ Ivy. "Due Diligence" for F1 venture at U.S. GP.
Taxed:
Honestly every trip I ever went on with Edward Jones was amazing, and I'm glad I took them over the cash bonus payouts, but if you qualified you could take 2 trips annually and they were valued at $5k each or 1 annually at $10k. Over the years I went to Hawaii, Mexico, France, Africa, but the best one by a fucking mile was in 2013 myself and several other advisors went to the BVI where we had a mooring yacht for just our group and a captain that took us anywhere we wanted to go, and our product partner, our Blackrock External, covered anything that wasn't included with the trip. Regardless of the tax bill at the end of the year all of the trips were awesome, but that one I actually priced to do again on my own dime a few years later and it would have costed about per couple 25k to repeat it with the same group size. Seriously Edward Jones does that shit right.....
I know this post ran a little long, but if it had a point to it, it would be that while AM specifically Financial Advisors/Planners don't generally take home what IB/PE guys do we do get some nice perks occasionally. Not saying the grass is greener by any means, but I sure do love free stuff!
Would you mind posting a picture of the watch?
A duffle bag I use to store all my stuff during RA room inspections in school.
I didn't work there, but we did deals with Lehman Brothers back when they existed, I have one of their baseball hats, still a treasured item
that is pretty good, but not quite as good as the Enron ethics cube
That's awesome! Probably worth something on eBay now
As corny as this sounds, throughout my entire undergrad thus far I always stared in awe at the “banker bags” on the subway, and getting one at the start of my internship was a real ‘I made it’ moment. My jaw practically hit the floor when I opened the box it was sent in. They’re also a lot more poorly constructed than I thought, having loose threads here and there and the zipper feeling somewhat flimsy, but it was still such a powerful feeling to officially own one. Please don’t roast me — I’m just excited to be here.
dw everyone gets that moment. Banker bags are the holy grail.
Nice post. I guess it would have meant the same thing to me as a young man. I came into banking/finance later in life so my banker bag was just something I bought myself from the company store :). But now I'm thinking about any kids I might have inspired by using it around town.
Golf umbrella, high quality golf shirts, golf balls, all of which get used. The swell bottle is great even though I have like 5 already because I use the fuck out of them. The banker bag, while pretty common, is a good small duffel that I actually use since my other one is a bit big for just like gym clothes, shoes, and a bottle.
While all of this is nice, nothing compares to the deutche bank branded shoes.
Got a dope Decanter. Windbreaker/rain jackets. Jackets ALLDAY
Either my Bloomberg umbrella that has a terminal printed on the inside, which is pretty funny, or a law firm gave me some whiskey stones with their logo on it that I actually use
JPM corporate challenge dri-fit T. Still a good flex for the weekend jogs.
Multi National United gave us first year contractors 7.62 rounds with MNU engraved. You get to keep your tactical vest and the MNU patch. You kinda forget about the cool merch when ur in the field tho
thats crazy bro? were they like live rounds?
Unreleased Nike jerseys/apparel for a pro sports team my old firm owned
Water bottles, coffee mugs, nice pens, padfolios, duffel bags, vests, polos
JPM hydroflask!!
I got a mousepad that had a wireless charging element and a mouse. Pretty sick, wish I got more stupid fun stuff tho
First internship I got an Adidas golf polo with the company logo on it and dueling bear/bull. Pretty sick imo especially as a freshman.
A friend of mine at a MM got a mask with the company logo
mug, vest, gym bag
Yeti Beer Bag.
Lululemon hoodies and sweatpants with company logo. It’s nice and less common and brands like panagonia.
Patagonia vest with company logo, clichéd but still sick
