Gathering the skillset required to get a trading job at a hedge fund

Hi all,

I have experience in short term trading (Casual trading) and have always been interested in the market and how daily trends effect them. However, I have no academic or professional experience in Finance (I have a BSc in Computer Science from a leading European college and currently work at an accountancy firm).

I plan on switching industries in the next year or so to finance (specifically to a trading role). Considering my lack of technical knowledge in this field and the plethora of varying knowledge on the internet regarding how to break into finance, I am a bit confused as to what sort of plan I should follow and what sort of technical skills I should pursue to make my application attractive for employers.

I consider myself to be skilled at Mathematics and scripting, however I need some pointers as to which specific topics I should gain expertise in before I venture into the jobs market.

I appreciate that the information provided above might be a little less detailed, however any pointers regarding a long term plan would be highly appreciated!
