Melqart Asset Management - London
Hello all,
Hope you are surviving the summer! Anyone has any insides on these guys? They seem to do a bunch of cool stuff, which I assume is because they have a very flexible mandate. Last data point I got was £3.7Bn AuM, and c.30 people (15 back-office).
Any insides on returns, comps, founders, culture, etc?
Thank you
Bump

know someone who interviewed there. I don't know much but they seem like french-heavy old-school generalists, sharp ratio not great, not my cup of tea. The thing about SM they're really dependent on the PM's style. Being generalist could be great for them, less so for you if you wanna exit later.
[Realized I was speaking about another fund, my bad]
Melqart, yes agreed, very French (although founder is Lebanese) style.
I would say tho, they are event-driven, so their performance is not compared to benchmark, hence sharp ratio is less relevant. And they get fees paid on absolute return, not on relative returns
It could be. think it depends on your mandate right, but very few people do not have a benchmark or a vol. target.
I think they recently launched a macro product
Bump - any more insights about culture, comp, performance? What would the usual entry level comp for an analyst be (base and bonus range) for a fund of its size (think its more about 2bn according to public info) and 20 professionals (10 investment team according to website)
Their distressed guys are legit - sharp, understand restructuring dynamics, and seem to get pretty in the weeds on names.
