Thanks for the response. I'm an incoming analyst for 2024... do they take lateral hires for new analyst programs or is it strictly for graduates

Would you recommend networking a bit before the summer starts?

Also what should the focus be? I know it’s recommended to reach out to old SA contacts, but how should this be targeted to express interest in FT but not be so direct about it

FT 2025 analyst are recruiting the SA 2024 class. So it seems like as internships are wrapping up the recruiting for FT opens… Hopefully you just receive return offer so it wouldn’t matter.

Can anyone explain how best to handle this? Should we network with fresh first year analysts or second year analysts? Can SAs in your class at the bank help pull you in?

Done FT recruiting.

You’re not late, don’t worry about that. Applications open in July, and interviews start in August.

Before that, some PE analyst programs open up.

For networking, I would soft reach out to strong connections before your SA starts. I would be hesitant to reach out to complete random people, but if you were going to, phrase it as general IB advice.

Networking during the internship is also a little worrisome, because you should be focused on the RO.

This is all dependent on your situation - if you’re not in IB, go balls to the walls and do everything.

But if you’re reasonably happy where you are, I would soft network and don’t go that hard.

Best of luck, and hope you get what you want.

Because they can contact the people at your current bank, say you are re-recruiting and you lose out on both offers.

A Bird in Hand is better than two in the bush.

Just did FT recruitment for ‘24 and succeeded. I started networking in June for FT positions. It’s helpful that I was in NYC so I could meet up for coffee chats. Obviously tough with intern work as well. FT recruitment is very network heavy. But I landed a gig without much networking tbh.

How do you recommend going about studying for technicals on top of networking and internship? And what resources did you use for that?
