Credit Risk Senior Compensation

Hi everyone. Asking for a friend. Does anyone know what senior level comp is at a BB for credit risk (middle office) at the senior VP / ED level in NYC? Recognize there are many different types of credit risk, this would be more on the FIG side covering PE firms and HFs with respect to their credit exposure.

Understanding the total comp will be lower than M&A, I wanted to nonetheless get a sense for how much of a discount it might be relative to front office banking roles. I believe at the more junior levels, the comp is a slight/fair discount to M&A analysts and that the discount widens as one gets more senior in credit risk. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Probably 30% if I were to guess based on my interactions with credit folks. They don’t have a P&L so it’s difficult to allocate or push for strong bonus even when the firm does well.

Earlier in my career, I had been offered a VP1 credit risk role for a total comp of 250k, whereas the VP1 comp for a lev fin banker was like 425k.
