FT Recruiting 2026? Steps to succeed? (Need Advice)
Hi All,
I really screwed a bunch of superdays for IB 2025 SA (screwed abt 4 at BB's). I have an offer from a MM/LMM firm (SocGen/CIBC/Mizuho) and a superday at a better known MM firm (Nomura/WF). However my offer expires before the superday. Do i wait/Do ib firms even give extensions?
I also need advice for FT recruiting, I am currently at a target with strong leadership in extracurriculars (President of our investment club), decent GPA and will be interning on the investing side at a Tiger Cub in summer 2024 (Lone Pine/Viking/Coatue).
Yes ik tiger cub to LMM IB is crazy but while my tiger cub might have a return offer it doesnt have a clear intern to analyst pipeline (the bad fundraising environment might mean they scrap returns too) would taking the IB offer in LMM IB and my internship at a tiger cub be enough to get a BB/EB FT, any advice?

How do you land a Tiger Cub for sophomore summer, yet strike out in banking interviews for junior summer?
cant think of much but I had a very difficult semester with family problems, my gpa dropped to around 3.5 before recruiting as well and besides that I dont think my superdays were bad i just feel like you cant make a single error if you expect an offer nowadays

Take your IB offer and lateral later on.

this is true but where is still open that would be worth reneging? should i focus on getting a more prestigious asset management jr summer (given some are still open) even though I want to work in banking FT?
Tiger cub soph summer ez means ur chillin you will get looks everywhere forFT regardless of ur jr summer. Just a question, how tf did you get a tiger cub? Is it only school connect, club connect or cold email?
mix of school connect club connect and cold emailing. the interview process is laborious (I spoke to about 5 members of the firm before offer). They will ask you filthy questions and focus more on how smart you are than actual finance technicals (unlike superdays)
if you get a return internship from tiger cub then 100% renege, either way accept this MM offer and look to renege later
