MS Menlo vs Lazard SF

Hi,

Considering offers to Lazard SF or MS Menlo as an MBA associate. I previously worked as a tech PM before b-school. Would love to hear your thoughts on exit opps, total comp, junior banker experience, etc. I know MS Menlo is one of the best but also thoroughly enjoyed my experience meeting all of the Lazard folks (I found them sociable and intellectually curious, people had diverse backgrounds).

Thank you!

Both great, MS is traditionally stronger in the tech space due to their senior leaders and strong ECM arm (which gets them on pretty much every big tech IPO). However, they are known to have really poor WLB and below street pay. Lazard is based in SF which is a lot more fun for a young individual (I’m based in the bay so I know both menlo and sf pretty well). Lazard also offers great experience and has some pretty impressive clients from Google to IBM. If it were me, I’d take Lazard, but can’t go wrong with either.

Not entirely true. Heard that the WLB has improved since peak tech during covid due to cultural changes from the top. Pay is in-line with other BB banks. Have friends at both banks, the ones at MS are very confident in their exit opportunities because of the deep alumni and brand name deals.

lol why did this get MS? Which boutique is better than MS
