Did long distance but during a prolonged off-cycle internship of 6 months. One thing you need to understand from the get-go is that your gf will have more time in her hands than you, and that means she will do stuff (trips with her friends, night outs, etc.) without you. You have to be okay with that and be able to trust her that she will be faithful.

On the other side, she also should be understanding that you are going to be very busy and unavailable at times. If she is equally career driven (studying in STEM, pre-med, law school prep, etc.) this works okay. But if she is more "artsy", then she might disagree with you on how you spend your time working on models, PPT, etc.

If it is 4 hours by car, that is okayish but still pretty tough unless your gf is willing to drive a lot. 4 hours by plane would be very tough as it would have to be during the "chill weekends" to visit her.

Either way if she is the one, it will work out. If not, that's fine as well as that's life.

Seen many analysts start with a long distance GF/BF and majority of them are not together by the time they leave IB. Think that is mostly due to relationships not surviving post-college/LDR in general, but it's difficult. Especially when your GF will be having fun at school and you'll be having a very rough two years.

Would try to see each other at least once a month - plan to be there for important events (sorority socials, big game weekends) and maybe get an extra screen to stash in her closet so you have more freedom to work up there. If your bank is WFH Fridays, take a Zipcar up to see her and work from there. Have her come visit you on any WFH days too... you may not have total freedom but should be able to grab lunch/coffee and have most of the weekend.

It's not easy. 2 years LDR is probably longer than you've been dating. Just try to see each other as much as possible, and if it's not working out you guys should be willing to recognize that too
