Looking for Summer Accommodation in London (Canary Wharf)

Hi everybody,

I will do a 6-week internship starting this July in Canary Wharf.

I am writing here to know if anyone will do a summer internship as well and wanted to share a flat nearby. If anyone is or know someone, please let me know.

I might have the possibility of staying at Helen Graham House (next to The British Museum) but I have two doubts:

  1. Do you find 25 mins of commuting acceptable (Elizabeth Line)? What makes me doubt the most is that summer = + delays and + people, making commuting times higher some days
  2. If not, what zones should I target? How did you manage to secure a flat/room?

Any advice would be helpful from anyone who lives there or has done an internship there, since it is my first time in London.

I would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

1. 25 minutes commute to CW is actually really good; some interns from my cohort last year had nearly an hour commute to the office. But be aware the Elizabeth line doesn't really operate on weekends, so if you need to come to the office, you'd need to look for some alternative routes.

2. I wouldn't look for 'zones' but commute time. If you can be in the office 25 mins after leaving your flat/house it's great. Ideally you'd have more connection routes if for example the Elizabeth line is not working. I'd check AirBnb - some hosts are willing to do it 'off the app' and offer a neat discount.

What do you mean about Elizabeth line doesn't 'really' operate on weekends? I see that in both Google maps and the timetable on the gov website say is working. Have things changed? Maybe with tourists is way more busy?

I appreciate any comments about that, since I am thinking on moving to either Farringdon or Holborn and I don't want to sign anything until I am sure commuting is nice enough.

I stayed at Shoreditch/Spitalfields during my SA and loved it, especially all the bars and restaurants. Very short commute to CW with lizzy line, although weekends could be a hassle sometimes.
