Why is the Fed Meeting in Jackson Hole?

Isn't Jackson Hole just about the nicest / most expensive place in the United States? Isn't the Fed regularly talking about how...you know...the economy is in a tough position...aren't these guys funded by our...tax dollars?

Not saying they shouldn't have nice things, but maybe meet in one of the massive government buildings rather than the most uppity resort that we have?

Happy to be corrected if I'm looking at this the wrong way, but this seems like a bad look to me, especially when we just tacked on several million to the IRS tax collection ability, and regularly hear from politicians about how our taxes need to be raised

yeah it's nothing new. World Economic Forum has been in Davos since the 70s also

The real reason? Paul Volcker liked the spot because he liked to fly fish. Kansas City Fed moves their annual meeting there, turns out a lot of bankers like the spot, and then a tradition is born.

Yea, its surprisingly convenient that its Jackson Hole. It is a bona fide "tradition"....but they might want to reign it back. Surprised they haven't wised up and started calling it Jackson Lake rather than Jackson Hole to avoid some of the criticism
