Bentley vs. UMiami vs. Fordham

Looking for some insight as I select a college. Which would give me better shot for EB/BB. I absolutely hate the cold weather but regardless I am looking for east coast placement post grad: NYC, Boston, as I’m not sure how many shops r even in Miami. Also, all 3 are non target so does it even matter which one I choose?

Miami. Its the best school overall, there are a lot of small funds and family offices that you can intern at during the school year and sophomore summer. Placement has been very strong in recent years, look into Bermont-Carlin.

Lastly, it also is the most fun school on your list for what its worth.

Yes, I'm an alum that is at a BB. I picked UM over Fordham and a number of other similar ranked schools (OSU/Tulane/Syracuse/etc). Placement has been getting better each year and there are alums at all the BBs in IB. There are plenty of other UM alum in other FO roles as well. Citi is the major recruiter on campus.

A large portion of the schools student body comes from NY/NJ/CT so a lot of student's parents/relatives work in the industry, which helps with networking. The business school uses the Bermont-Carlin Program to funnel kids into these types of roles, and professors will go out of their way to make sure these kids land FO roles at reputable firms.

There are a lot of family offices and boutique PE / REPE shops in Miami that are willing to take on students for internships both in the summers and during the school year. UMiami is the best school in the area by far, so there is not a lot of competition for these internships. If you can land one or two of these before recruiting for Junior summer you'll have a good experience on your resume.

On placement, I know people at every BB. Citi has the most alum and there are a handful of people each at JPM, Barclays, GS, UBS, etc. There are some one off people at various EBs / MMs as well. Off the top of my head Guggenheim, FT Partners, Jefferies, Piper Sandler, Solomon Partners etc. and I'm sure plenty more.

Lastly, UM has a work hard / play hard atmosphere that translates well to the work force. UM alum/students tend to be more social / personable which helps with networking/interviewing and in theory winning clients down the road as a senior banker (I'm not anywhere close to this stage yet).
