Best Business School in Brazil

dear fellow monkeys,

i am currently thinking about applying to mba programs in brazil and i was wondering if any of you knows what schools in brazil have a good reputation. so far ive read that business school sao paulo and fundacao getulio vargas seem to be pretty good. does anybody know more about this?

thanks guys

24837:
In Sao Paulo USP/FGV/Insper, in Rio Ibmec/UFRJ/PUC.

A good way to get a rough idea of any school's reputation is to check their international partner institutions.

I agree with 24837.

But in the end you have to see what do you want to do. These are all great but they have a different focus on each area. Also, it depends of what course you want to take bc the quality of the programs change a lot. For example, some places have better undergrad others better mbas and so on.

Also, there is a discussion about rio vs sp. You have to see what city makes more sense for your career.

So it would be better if you explain better what you want to do in Brazil.

thanks for the responses. to me it is mostly about getting to know the brazilian culture and enjoying life. i mean i do want to go to a good school but i also want to have time to explore the country and its people.

my bachelors degree is in econ and finance, but i would like to do more strategy stuff. the things im most interested in are strategy, finance and entrepreneurship.

thanks again guys, i appreciate it

A quick list of what each is more famous for:

SP: Insper - finance FGV - strategy, finance and entrepreneurship USP - NGO's, economics, entrepreneurship FDC (fundação dom cabral) - MBA (for MBA is one of the best)

RIO: PUC - economics Ibmec - finance COPPEAD - MBA (one of the best also, and maybe the best school ranked by FT in Brazil)

Maybe Rio would be more interesting for a foreigner. You will be able to enjoy more the city and the lifestyle and the schools are great. The only disadvantage is jobs that is mainly in SP.

today i found out that one of my old professors is now teaching at FGV in rio. is FGV in rio as reputable as FGV in sp?

thanks guys

I think in Brazil the Best Business Schools its in Sao Paulo because there are only two Brazilian business school have AACBS accreditation, FGV and Insper and both located in Sao Paulo.

I'm currently studying at USP within their economics, accountancy and business school. USP is by far and away the best university. It's name brand brings lots and I mean lots of opportunities here. Plus if you can speak Portuguese and English, you're golden. Firms all over the country and dying for these people.
