Another WSO success story

Well boys, I finally made it official today signing an acceptance letter for an analyst position for a MM bank where I will be starting in a couple of weeks. Through one of the users here, I actually found this opportunity and was able to land an interview. With all the tips and advice from everyone else, I was able to ace the interview. Thanks and much to all who helped out.

I was a pretty unlikely candidate as I majored in Business with a minor in Finance from a top engineering school. I never really had a IB internship, but I did intern at a law firm withing their M&A group. I graduated this past May and have been working a tech consulting start-up while trying to find opportunities in IB and it finally paid off.

My advice to everyone looking to get into IB is pretty much the what everyone else has been saying. Don't give up, be patient. Networking is key. I sent well over 100 resumes and cover letters out, and if you do get a response -- be relentless, never let the communication dry out. If they aren't hiring, ask them for help. For the position I was able to land, I contacted one guy who told me to contact someone else who told me to contact someone else. Never let a lead die.

Anyway, Much love to everyone!!

Congrats. If you have not already check out the "Thanks WSO" (This name exactly) Thread.

Feels like these 'success stories' deserve their own sub category somewhere. Maybe under 'jobs'. For any future news stories, it'd be a great section to mention to the press. Kinda sells itself, huh Patrick?

took your suggestion - great idea.

Sweet. All these stories should really help encourage monkeys still fighting the good fight.

SB for you! But do you mind sharing how you did this? I've been told "we're not hiring" but can't get passed that...why would they help a stranger who's just looking for a job like a million other kids? I get the networking-->ask for job later strategy, but not the ask for a job-->referral strategy.

Also, check out my recently posted (hours ago) success story if anyone wants expert tips!

SB for you. I hope to be in your shoes next year. I love seeing these posts since sometimes I really feel like giving up.
