Growth Equity/VC Recruiting & MBA Prep

Hello WSO Community - hope you are all staying safe. I'll be returning as an IB Analyst this fall at a MM IB firm (TMT group). I have always been interested in early-stage investments and I am keen on breaking in as a growth equity/VC associate.

1) Which HHs usually lead the recruiting for MM GE / VC funds / Corporate VC arms? If not, do some or most of these funds run their own recruiting process/tap into their network?

2) Is there a specific timeline that these funds follow for Associate recruiting (on-cycle/off-cycle or 1st year/2nd year Analysts)?

3) I have a 3.4 GPA (one bad semester) from a non-target as a finance major so I know my MBA candidacy is weak - apart from aiming for a 720+ GMAT and strong recs, what else can I do over the summer and in the future to improve my chances at M7?

4) How are MBAs viewed in the early-stage investing universe / is it needed to move up the ranks at most of these funds?

5) What are some interesting books, blogs, and podcasts I can look into to improve my knowledge and understanding of early-stage investing/tech?
