MSF or Big 4?
I need guidance from my fellow monkeys! My objective is to work in the IBD (CF, valuation) of a Big 4 company or in a decent boutique bank (BB is clearly out of my league, pre-MBA at least). Unfortunately, my background was too weak to secure an internship at those companies, let alone a FT...
Correct designation if you've passed CFA®Level I, but aren't signed up for CFA® Level II?
If I remember correctly, based on the Ethics portion, one isn't allowed to simply state "Passed Level I." Is there any other sort of alternative to convey the same information?
CFA® Success
I was wondering if there were any Monkeys out there that switched from a non- Asset Management role in banking to Asset Management role by passing the level exams of the CFA® and networking through CFA® associations. This would be ideal, rather than spending over $100K going to business school to...

Should I sign up for CFA® Level 2 with only 4 months left before D-Day?

CFA® vs. GMAT
I'm going to start off by saying this is not another CFA® vs. MBA thread. The purpose of this thread is to address a completely different issue. I'm trying to figure out what percentage of the college educated population is even capable of passing all three levels of the CFA and what percentage of...

My CFA® Study Tracking Sheet
I managed to pass Level II with a good breakdown (> 70% in 7 sections including all the big ones, 3 between 50-70) in exactly three months. I attribute my success mainly to discipline and desire to pass (Unlike 90% of people taking the test, I've been wanting to take the test since sophomore year,...

Is anyone familiar with this organization or involved? Is it worth getting a membership with them if you are in the New York City area?
What Should I Do This Semester?
I've attached my resume to this post to give people a better idea of my current position. My goal after graduation is to land an ER , AM , or dare I say a job at a HF straight out of undergrad. The deadline to register for the December CFA test is rapidly approaching and as I study away, I find...

Anyone Have Level 1 Schweser Notes For Sale?

Extra Time on the CFA®?
I know it's pretty much impossible to get extra time for the GMAT. I'm guessing the CFA® doesn't give a shit about people with ADHD either?
Most Cushy Asset Management Jobs?
What are the most cushy Asset Management jobs other than pension/endowment funds? Somewhere you can work 9-6ish, go home, study for the CFA , and make the switch to a more stressful job when you have the credentials you want? Pension/endowment funds sound perfect but from what I heard, most people...
Dual CFA® /CPA Designation
I remember looking at a pretty well known Newport Beach HF a while ago and noticed that ~75% of analysts on their website had a dual CFA / CPA designation. I thought it was kind of an odd mix to have, but apparently someone wants to hire them. Anyone else have/know anyone with a dual designation?...
First Step To ER - CFA® Level I
I'm sitting for the CFA Level I in December. Assuming I pass, do you think that would be enough to land an entry-level Equity Research position? I graduated with a Finance degree from Rutgers in May with a 3.5. Decent, but not great. I currently work in the middle office of a BB doing ops work on...
Difference between CFA materials and Schweser

Does Real Estate (property level) Acquisitions Experience Count for CFA® designation?

Quit full time job for unpaid internship?
Purely hypothetical at this point. Here's my situation: I'm currently working full time at a glorified back office job that offers little room for growth and certainly not a path to get me to where I ultimately want to be (that would be buy side equity research). I only accepted this offer because I...

3 Non Traditional Arguments for Getting a CFA®
Here are three non-traditional reasons for getting a CFA® . I use the term “non-traditional” because I’m not going to include “because you want to work in equity research ” (or some other area where it’s basically a required certification) – that’s too obvious. This post is more for...
CPA and CFA® requirements
Hi, I'm planning to take both CPA and CFA ... According to the research that I did, it seems that CFA doesn't have as many requirements as CPA . Anyone ever heard of a F500 paying for the CFA® ?
I work in FP&A for a F500 and am planning to take level 1 of the CFA next June. I'm contemplating whether or not I should ask my boss if the company will cover the fees, because it may send a message that I'm planning to leave the company since the CFA isn't directly related to corporate finance...
