What do you Drive and What's your Dream Car?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I know a whole lot of you are in NYC or cities where vehicle ownership doesn't make sense, but if somehow you do or for others in places where you have to own a car to get around...

  1. What is your current ride and why?

  2. What's your dream car(s)?

I've got a few ponies in the stables including an 08 STI and soon a 02 911.

Dream car for me is a NSX type R and a old Formula One car that requires some serious balls to drive like the 1200hp+ turbo days when you had to rely on mechanical grip.

Discussions here can be about your previous rides and why you ditched them and plans for future procurements of other stallions.

update: Included pics of my rides. :)

Fuck yeah on the amored Maybach! Would you also have ports to grant you the ability to return fire?

I think a CROW system with a 240B that pops out of the trunk would suffice. However, that requires a very large trunk and some paperwork. Naturally, have a former CAG operator driving, a CIF operator riding in the passenger seat, an MP5 in my briefcase and a FNH 57 concealed under my jacket.

Time to get back to shitting in the other hand.

Only two sources I trust, Glenn Beck and singing woodland creatures.

I took a ride in my buddy's Challenger Hellcat and it feels like you're launching at instantaneous warp speed. New automatic gearbox shifts like an F1 so there's virtually no bog in between shifts. Almost feels like a single gear. We were pulling on 600cc bikes and keeping up with the new z06s on the highway.

  1. Currently drive a black Volkswagen GTI, car just keeps going so I haven't replaced it.

-Also have a red 1990 Honda CRX Si that I've slowly put back together and hope to swap a K series motor into some day soon. Over 400k miles on it and still starts on the first crank with the original d16.

  1. La Ferrari (Dream), a restored 1990 BMW e30 M3, and a 2016 white or black STI hatch for ski trips/daily. Probably get the STi when my GTI bites the dust.

Built a 1988 banana yellow rex back in high school. We threw a GSR engine in and strapped a cummins turbo on it from a diesel Dodge Ram. Crazy stupid lag but once the boost kicked in it was insane. Pushing 400 whp in an 1800lb tin can was a lot of fun.

If the US had the current version of the RS6, I would We have the RS7, but I'm not 100% on the styling of those cars. I wish Audi would send the RS6 Avant over here.

Current: E36 328iS, and a naked Suzuki SV650. Dream: Porsche 917 or Pagani Zonda R

EDIT: Sold the Suzuki. Bought a Ducati 848 Evo. k

Not sure how much you're into Pagani but there's actually a great seat documentary about super sports cars in which Pagani gets quite a lot of coverage

NA baby! The NF isn't bad. I test drove it and liked it a lot.

Look into the MSMs. Fire in the factory made this line an exclusive lot. Lots of mods because it is MX5 but not very safe without a top and padded bars for the road.

Current: Santander Cycle Dream: My own two legs.

I hope people know what I'm getting at.

The S Coupe has to be one of the sleekest looking cars out rightnow. Big enough so that you aren't cramped up like a Boxster / 911 / SL even, but small enough that you aren't driving a RR Wraith around town.

...

Ferrari for sure but I don't understand the fascination with the GT3 RS. A few people have mentioned that car by now.

Me neither. I'd rather have a Lotus Elise. Anything that brings the smile on the face is a cool car.

Dream car? Paddle shifting Go-Kart! Doesn't get anymore raw than that and it's pretty practical in terms of actual seat time vs. maintenance cost.

Current: '04 Toyota Camry Next: 2014 Nissan Maxima Dream: Tesla Model S P100D

Camry has 200,000+ miles and runs like a gem. Eventually, I'd like to hop on the Musk bus and get the top model of the Model S. 2.5 0-60, 315 miles to a charge. Driving 40 miles a day, it'd be nice having a refueling station in the garage.

Camry is the bread and butter of America's auto belt. Word of mouth spreads quick when you actually get to drive your car a lot more than shaking your fists at mechanics while you run around town in a rental waiting for your ride to get fixed.

That's a great question!... in my head it always looks like a Latin America/Caribbean island. But that's probably because I've never been to Asia. I imagine some of the pacific islands are pretty incredible. Looks like you've lived in Japan based of your below post... Any suggestions?

Ebolamonkey:
Island where?

Asia or Latin America?

The island of Manhattan.

No car since in NY but my car back home was a 1997 Nissan Sentra, a real work of art.

Dream car: Aston Martin Vanquish if I were driving and the Mercedes-Maybach S600 if I were chauffeured. Super understated and subtle.

Good choices, nice distinguishing

Do the new Maybachs not have the special M logo anymore?

My history of cars is long and interesting:

1988 BMW 325i (E30) 1996 Acura Integra GSR 2004 VW Jetta TDI 1998 Audi A6 Quattro Wagon 2008 Subaru WRX STI (modded and pro-tuned) 2002 Mira Jino (Japanese K-car, super small, super fun to throw into corners) 2008 Nissan Cube (Japan still) 2015 VW Golf TSI (1.8T - current - hate this car!!!) 2002 Porsche 911 (996 - Buying - IMs fixed and bored out to larger displacement)

I'm also considering a Volvo S40 as a beater car for the commute after I ditch the 2015 VW Golf before depreciation and miles driven kills it even more.

Sold everything else except I still have the STI. Couldn't part ways with it after dumping so much time, energy, and money into it. World rally blue and gold BBS wheels.

Cut losses and then reinvest capital into Porsche 911. :)

IMS bearing fixed, custom engine build, know the history of this particular vehicle, and it has a 997 IMS bearing in there with the direct oiling kit. I'm good for a while.

Second Boxster engine in addition to my 08 STI. :) Can't wait to get back to NA. Been boosting for too long and rebuilding the engine is 2x the cost due to supporting parts for the block and turbo! Shit...

Current: Audi S3

Next: May switch to the new s4, not planning on getting anything anytime soon

Dream: 2-door Ferrari 458 Spyder in the blue they did a launch in (can't remember the exact name). 4-door would probably be the M6 Gran Coupe or the upcoming MB E63 S

Efficiency is king. When I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan we took the train everywhere.

Mt.Fuji was 1.5hrs away driving but all other places can easily be reached via train or Shinkansen (bullet train). Japanese are extremely efficient, trains convenient, and cities built around a train-based society vs an automotive one.

Current: Range Rover Sport Dream: Range Rover Autobiography

For a single guy in a big city, a black Range Rover with tinted windows is a sleek look. Since I'm in my 20s, I always get the impression most people think I am more mature for driving this car at my age than what most of my contemporaries drive. Also, nothing looks more classy in a country club parking lot. Eventually, may need the space the larger version offers. Great customization in the autobiography offering obviously.

time is the coin of your life: be careful, lest others spend it for you - Carl Sagan

Anyone looking to buy a classic z car that has been heavily resto-modded DM me.

Widebody, staggered wheels, triple webers, coilovers, suede, custom gauges, shaved body, huge frame rails welded on, upgraded brakes, glasspacks, TONS of carbon fiber (including the dash), AC, push-to-start, LEDs in the headlights/taillights, headers, custom head with street cam, ZERO RUST, custom paint... 5K miles since total restoration, 55k on the body and trans.

Originally a Black Pearl edition, one of only about 700

Asking $43K, will ship

Overwhelming grasp of the obvious.

Some people want to travel to different counties, I have a list of cars I want to drive:

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, AF 4C, E39 M5, 997 GT3, Cayman GT4, Carrera GT, P1, McLaren MSO HS, 675LT, Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Aventador SV, Huracan Superleggera, 2nd-gen CTS-V 6MT, Cobalt SS turbo, Ferrari 355, Porsche 918, BMW 1M, Corvette ZR1, Skyline R34, Koenigsegg One:1, Huayra BC, any Zonda.

Tough for me to nail it down to one dream car, but if I had to I'd probably say the Porsche GT4.

Great choice regarding Porsche GT4 - a very realistic piece to own as well. Probably not going to see a ton of (if any, or rather appreciation) depreciation on it as well.

Saw it in person at an autoshow - didn't get to see the interior though. Was definitely nice looking car but it didn't make me feel like I needed to have it. Maybe after driving, things would be different.

What is your current ride and why? 1995 Civic coupe w/ integra engine swap, turbo charged. Why? It's quick, fun, cheap to maintain and I don't have to care about it getting dinged or scratched (no driveway/garage...)

What's your dream car(s)? Red Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder, 6 speed manual. Can't beat the class of a naturally aspirated Ferrari v8 with a gated 6 speed...

I'm into, uh, well, murders and executions, mostly.

I love the Astons, just wish they would do a complete rehaul of the interior. Too outdated for how long the "current" models have been around.

I think of all the high end luxury / performance cars, they have done the best job of creating a truly timeless design. Thoughts, Ebolamonkey Matrick ?

There are a few brands that have managed to come up with a design that seems to last forever. For some reason the ones that come to mind first are all of British heritage: Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley...

Thoughts on MX5 Miata -

A) Guy or chicks who dig cars car for the the track (cool) B) Chick car - Ewww! C) Not my cup of tea, need a Bateman vehicle to prowl the streets!

My choice: A but... Not in the USA and definitely not in Texas or the South when the vehicles next to you can send you straight to hell just with a fender tap. Track only! Even then I'm not too fond of open tops after seeing some rather horrific videos of Miata accidents.

I drive the same old rust bucket i bought 12 years ago during my senior year. why? cause it still works plus I know all the pleasure moans and noise she makes when she is in pain. i'm going to ride this bitch until she dies and then buy another rust bucket. still want to know why? because i love to travel and do it in style, none of that backpacking though hostels shit. I am too old and have gotten used to a certain standard so I would rather spend 15K on a week long five star paradise than drive a BMW. I measure my dick in inches not how many thou my car costs.
